30 Days of Style: What's in Your Closet?

Hi Beautifuls!

Welcome, welcome to 30 Days of Style, The Fall Edition! For the next 30 days, we will feature all things beauty, fashion and style.  To kick off 30 Days of Style, today we're gonna talk about cleaning out your closets!

The above picture is a picture of my actual closet. As you can see, it is under construction. About every 6 months, I do a purging and cleansing of my closet. I take inventory of all of the pieces that I have and then I decide whether or not I will keep them.

How many of us are in need of a closet purging? Do you have clothes that are currently in your closet that still have tags on them? Do you have clothes in your closet that you haven't worn for six months or more?

If you answered yes, this post is for you!

Before you do a closet purging, the first thing you need to do is plan ahead. You will need at least a few hours to dedicate to cleaning out your closet. You will also need at least three industrial size trashbags: One for clothes to give away, one for clothes that are damaged that need to be thrown out and one bag for clothes that need to be washed and/or dry clean.

Next, you need to take everything out of your closet. Yes, everything! By taking everything out of your closet, that gives you a clean and fresh slate to begin with.

After you take everything out of your closet, you can then organize your clothes. I myself like to start off with my sleeveless tops followed by a short sleeve tops and then longsleeve tops, which are all organized by colornnnorganizing your garments inside of your closet, this gives you the opportunity to view each piece one by one and decide whether you're going to keep it, give it away or throw it away.

After you organize your tops, you can move on to dresses, followed by cardigans and then your bottoms (jeans, pants and skirts).

Once all of your clothing is properly organized, it's now time to move on to your shoes. I have a shoe rack that I use to organize my shoes. I also have shoes that are still in their shoeboxes and they are neatly stacked at the bottom of my closet.

After you successfully organize shoes, it's now time to move onto assessories . I purchased a jewelry holder from Michael's as well as a few storage boxes from the Dollar Store. In the storage boxes, I like to store my hair products, my clutches and as well as the materials I use to make my Shea butter's.

I want to add that during this process of closet cleansing and organization that it should be a fun experience! If you organize your closet properly and add certain details to it, it can make you feel like you are shopping at your very own personal boutique.

Once your closet has been purged and organize, it's now up to you to maintain it. How do you maintain? By making sure that you put every piece of clothing back in its place in your closet.

I hope that this blog post helps you as you go to purge and organize your closet. One of the best ways to begin 30 days of style is to begin it with a closet that is clean, organized and ready for more pieces!

Xo,
Amy :)

P.S.  I'm still in the process of cleaning out my closet. As soon as I am finished, I will definitely post my pics on the blog!
