Everyone Wants to Lead but No One Wants to Serve...

Hi Lovebugs!

What does it mean to serve?  How well do you think you serve others?

For the last couple of weeks, the Lord has really been pressing me to step up my servitude, beginning in my home.  With a husband and four kids, it is my pleasure and responsibility to make sure that my house runs smoothly and peaceably.  The greatest way to do that is to serve them in the capacity of a wife and mother.

Serving is a Godly attribute.  Matthew 20:28 NLT says, "For even the Son of Man came not to be served but to serve others and to give his life as a ransom for many." Now if Jesus Himself, the Son of God, came to the Earth to serve, what's our excuse?

I've included some scriptures below that we are going to meditate on today.  The world has made being a servant seem very unpopular and belittling.  However, it is honorable in God's sight.  I charge you to really take service to the next level and see how much not only you will change, but the people around you as well!

Xo,
Amy :)

Acts 20:35 (ESV) "In all things I have shown you that by working hard in this way we must help the weak and remember the words of the Lord Jesus, how he himself said, ‘It is more blessed to give than to receive."

I Peter 4:10-11 (ESV) "As each has received a gift, use it to serve one another, as good stewards of God's varied grace: whoever speaks, as one who speaks oracles of God; whoever serves, as one who serves by the strength that God supplies—in order that in everything God may be glorified through Jesus Christ. To him belong glory and dominion forever and ever. Amen."

Galatians 5:13-14 (ESV) "For you were called to freedom, brothers. Only do not use your freedom as an opportunity for the flesh, but through love serve one another. For the whole law is fulfilled in one word: “You shall love your neighbor as yourself."

John 13:12-14 (ESV) "When he had washed their feet and put on his outer garments and resumed his place, he said to them, “Do you understand what I have done to you? You call me Teacher and Lord, and you are right, for so I am. If I then, your Lord and Teacher, have washed your feet, you also ought to wash one another's feet."

Mark 10:44-45 (ESV) "And whoever would be first among you must be slave of all. For even the Son of Man came not to be served but to serve, and to give his life as a ransom for many."

Matthew 20:28 (ESV) "Even as the Son of Man came not to be served but to serve, and to give his life as a ransom for many."

Phillipians 2:1-11 (ESV) "So if there is any encouragement in Christ, any comfort from love, any participation in the Spirit, any affection and sympathy, complete my joy by being of the same mind, having the same love, being in full accord and of one mind. Do nothing from rivalry or conceit, but in humility count others more significant than yourselves. Let each of you look not only to his own interests, but also to the interests of others. Have this mind among yourselves, which is yours in Christ Jesus,"

Mark 9:35 (ESV) "And he sat down and called the twelve. And he said to them, “If anyone would be first, he must be last of all and servant of all."
