Getting in Position to Receive!
Well hello hello Lovies!
Happy New Year to ya! It's Rosh Hashanah which marks the beginning of the Holy Year, so I wanted to talk a little about positioning ourselves to receive all that God has for us. We just entered into a new season AND a new year, both occuring within DAYS of each other. Also, IT'S HARVEST TIME! That means, we should be in expectation to reap a harvest from all of the seeds that we've sown. We should be in expectation of the manifestations of our promises and prayers. We should be in expectation of everything NEW! But before we can step into the new, we have to rid ourselves of the old. So how in the world do we do that?
1. Confess your sins and repent - We ALL need Jesus! Woo, imagine where we would be without Him!! Before we can expect to receive ANYTHING from Him, we have to be cleansed of our sins. And please know that this is not something we do only once or twice in our lifetime. Romans 3:23 says "for all have sinned and fall short of the glory of God." Every one has sinned. EVERYONE! We are born into it. But that does not give us the excuse to just live a life of it. God is so loving and forgiving that "If we confess our sins, he is faithful and just and will forgive us our sins and purify us from all unrighteousness." (I John 1:9) Did you catch that? God will not only forgive us of our sins but he will purify (cleanse) us from all of the filth that comes along with it but FIRST, we must confess! So go ahead and open your heart to God. Tell Him that you fell short. Tell Him that you dropped the ball. He knows we need help! He is ready and eager to forgive us but we must take that first step towards Him.
2. Fast & pray - Fasting is a spiritual discipline involving abstaining from food (or other things) for the purpose of drawing closer to God. While fasting and praying, we cleanse ourselves from sin, renew our commitment to the Lord and seek His way and His will for our lives. Matthew 6:16-18 says " And when you fast, do not look gloomy like the hypocrites, for they disfigure their faces that their fasting may be seen by others. Truly, I say to you, they have received their reward. But when you fast, anoint your head and wash your face, that your fasting may not be seen by others but by your Father who is in secret. And your Father who sees in secret will reward you." Fasting is a great way to position ourselves to not only hear from the Lord but to receive the rewards that He has just for us!
2. DIE! Yes, we have to die.. to ourselves, to our flesh, to old mentalities, to just everything old! We CANNOT bring old mess into newness and expect it to be new. (That doesn't even make sense!). How many of us are sick and tired of being sick and tired but realize we keep getting ourselves caught up in the same cycle because we keep doing things the way we use to do them?? 2 Corinthians 5:17 says "... old things have past away, behold all things are new". What old things are you allowing to live? What old ways are you refusing to part with? Could it be that the only thing stopping you from receiving is that you keep giving the same old excuses over and over again?
3. Find and meditate on scriptures that support what it is that you're positioning yourself for - God responds to His Word. If you are positioning yourself to receive healing, meditate on Isaiah 53:5 "... by His stripes, we are healed." If you are positioning yourself to victory in any circumstance or situation, meditate on Deuteronomy 20:4 "For the Lord your God is He who goes with you to fight for you against your enemies, to give you the victory." The Bible has the answers to every last problem, issue and trial that we will face on this Earth. All we have to do is stand on the Word and God will do the rest!
So Lovebugs, are we ready to get in position? Are we ready to let go of our way of doing things in exchange for God's way of doing things? I am TRULY excited for what God is doing in each and every one of our lives. I don't know about you, but I'm gonna do what needs to be done to position myself to grow in AND receive the things of God! How about you??
Love you lots,
