"How Bad Do You Want It?" Guest Blogger, Gail Brashear
Stress is like spiritual exercise. When you are training to run a race no one does it for you. You must do it yourself, so you can perform in that race. You are running the race all by yourself. You do not have anyone holding your hand. It is all on you. How bad do you want it?
Therefore, I say with each stressful thing in life, be it on your job, your family, a friend, a loss, anything in life that brings stress and can work your nerves and emotions, it is like preparing for that race.
When we have these stressful things thrown at us, how do you handle it? How are you training spiritually? Kind of like when you are training for a race, do you run almost everyday, do you vary your training to be in the optimum shape for the race?
So how is your spiritual exercise? Each stressful event should be like the next step in training harder. How do you handle it when the next challenge comes? Does it hold you back or does it push you forward? You must use each situation to learn from as a spiritual training. Question yourself: what haven’t I done that I should have, that I can handle it better? But most of all, you have to be in connection and listen to your Coach, Your greatest Personal Trainer, Jesus Christ. How bad do you want it? Keep pushing forward.
I press on to reach the end of the race and receive the heavenly prize for which God, through Christ Jesus, is calling us. Philippians 3:14 NLT
