Balancing Our Priorities
Hey there Lovies :)
For as long as I can remember, God has always talked to me about balance. With all of the responsibilities that I have, it’s very important to balance them all. First off, there’s my relationship with Christ, then my relationship with my husband and children. Oh yeah there’s ministry and Roxie’s Powder Room. The list goes on and on. How on Earth can someone manage and balance all of these responsibilities??
- Prioritize – everything is NOT a priority! Yes, there are things that we like to do that we think are important however we have to be honest with ourselves and determine what our priorities. Everyone has their own plates full of things that have to take care of so really pray about which things are priorities and which things just have to take a back seat.
- Time Management – Good Lord! Knowing how to effectively manage our time can do wonders when comes to balancing our responsibilities. Create a schedule and assign times for all of your responsibilities. For instance, if you usually spend time studying and reading your bible, block off an hour each morning just for that. Add your work hours to the schedule. The idea is to basically write out your life on paper! That way, you will have a clear idea of where your time goes and youo can make any necessary adjustments.
- Say NO! – Is it alright to say NO! You are one person. You cannot be everywhere and do everything. Yes, you are a helpful person. Yes, you give good advice. However, being a YES person will cause you to be burned out, frustrated and irritable. As I always say, sometimes you have to say NO to others and say YES to YOU!
- Rest – We live in a world that’s all about work! Rest is a VERY important component when it comes to balance. How else are we suppose to refuel and re-energize our minds, bodies and spirits if we do not rest!
So there you have it Lovebugs! Balancing our busy lives can be achieved. When we make the effort to prioritize our responsibilities, everything will begin to run smoothly. Just take things one day at a time and see how much your life will change!
